WHO ARE YOU?
We are a fun and friendly husband and wife team from Ontario, Canada. Together we are thrilled to offer you some amazing special edition dark romance and paranormal/fantasy romance novels.
WHAT IS IN YOUR BOX?
Each box will contain 2 exclusive cover signed books by the same author unless otherwise stated. Each box will also contain a coordinating bookmark.
WHY NO SWAG?
We want to offer you a great box at a budget friendly price. Adding swag to our box would increase the cost.
CAN I ORDER ONLY ONE OF THE BOOKS?
We're sorry, but no. The books are a set and the boxes will contain both books for all preorders and/or subscription purchases. However, if we have any single books available after all ordered boxes have shipped we may, at our discretion, list any single books for purchase on our site.
CAN I ORDER MORE THAN ONE BOX?
We're thrilled you'd love to purchase more than one however we are limiting boxes to one per household address. Our stock is limited and we want as many people to get the chance to purchase one of our fab boxes as possible.
Duplicate orders will be cancelled at our discretion.
WILL THE BOOKS BE HAND SIGNED?
Yes! Our goal is to have every book hand signed by each author. Unfortunately there may be circumstances where a bookplate will be provided instead of hand signed. If this is the case we will state this in the product listing and advise in our Facebook chat group and on our Instagram account. Please be sure to join and follow!
HOW LONG IS THE PREORDER OPEN FOR?
We will be running the preorders from the 1st of the month until the 20th of the current month for that month's book box unless we sell out early. If we sell out early we will do our best to restock however we cannot guarantee this, nor can we guarantee the preorder will be open until the 20th of the month.
CAN I SKIP A MONTH IN MY SUBSCRIPTION?
Yes! We currently allow four (4) skips per calendar year without penalty.
WHEN WILL MY BOX SHIP?
As our boxes are printed on a preorder basis they will ship within approximately 60 - 75 days from the date the preorder closes on the 20th of that given month. Please note that printing delays may happen and they are out of our control. We will keep you apprised of any shipping delays in our Facebook chat group, on our Instagram account, and on our Updates page here on the website.
WILL I GET TRACKING?
Yes! We will be proudly shipping all of our boxes through Canada Post. You will be provided with a tracking number via email confirmation that your order has shipped.
WHAT IF THERE ARE DUTIES/CUSTOMS/TAXES PAYABLE?
All of our boxes will be shipped with customs declarations as applicable. We are not responsible for any duties or customs or taxes due payable when you receive your box. Should your box be returned to us because of non-payment of duties/customs/taxes we will cancel your orders indefinitely.
WHERE ARE YOUR BOOKS PRINTED?
We are proudly using a local Ontario print house for all of our printing needs. We love that we are able to support our local community.
MY BOOK APPEARS DAMAGED!
Please provide us with clear pictures via email at themidnightbookshelf@gmail.com so we can assess the perceived damage. Please note that imperfections on the spine do not constitute damage and will not be replaced. Any books deemed to be needing replaced will need to be shipped back to us. Our address will be provided via email.
CAN I CANCEL MY ORDER?
Yes, with limits. You must submit an email to us within 3 days of your purchase date that you would like to cancel your order. After that time all sales are final. Please note that we are not able to process returns and exchanges will be made on an individual basis at our discretion.
DO YOU SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?
Yes! We proudly ship internationally. If your country is not reflected on our current shipping locations please get in touch so we can provide you with a shipping quote. Please note that some authors have limited us as to where we are allowed to ship their books. We will state in our chat group on Facebook and on our Instagram the permitted shipping locations for each box.
I'M AN AUTHOR AND WOULD LIKE TO BE FEATURED!
That's awesome! Please note that we are only featuring dark/angsty romance authors. Please reach out to us at themidnightbookshelf@gmail.com to inquire for further information and to advise us as to which books you are interested in us featuring.
WHY WAS MY ORDERED CANCELLED?
We as a Canadian business reserve the right to cancel any order at our discretion. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.
HOW DO I JOIN THE MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION WAITLIST?

But great news! We currently have open spots available for subscriptions! Once you purchase the subscription box your sub will start with the current month's box unless it is after the 20th of the month. Subs purchased the 21st onwards will be for the next month's box.
